1987 Suzuki Samurai

I’ve had the itch to own a Samurai for 25 years, so I bought this one in August of 2022 as a project/ hunting truck. Much time and money has gone into getting it the shape it is today. The Samurai has a lot of new parts, which are listed below. I am sure I have forgotten a fair amount, so I will update as I remember. Although this Samurai has proven to be very capable offroad, I have concluded that the Samurai is not well suited for my needs. I need something a little larger for me and the family to use for hunting.
It runs strong, holds 65mph easily, and does not smoke or burn oil. Gearing is a perfect mix for off-road use and highway driving, and it holds 3000 rpm at 65 MPH. It is a head-turner. I get compliments or a thumbs-up about every time I drive it. However, it is not perfect.

Drive Train
1990 Geo Tracker 1.6L 8 Valve EFI engine.
Rebuilt ECM with new capacitors.
Headman Header with 2 ¼ exhaust with a Thrush turbo-style muffler.
New aluminum radiator and thermostat.
65 amp Chevrolet alternator and new battery.
New shifter bushing and backup light switch in transmission.
4.19 Gears in the transfer case. Transfer case cradle. Heavy duty driver’s side frame mount.
Rebuilt front and rear axles with new bushings, bearings, and seals. Front steering seals, wipes, and bearings. Factory 3.73 gears with Spartan Lockers front and rear. Axle truss front and rear. New Rocky Road Outfitters 6” SPOA perch kit. Axle vent extensions.
Rear springs in the front with Missing Link shackles.
Brand new Firestone Destination 32 x 11.5 x 15 tires on new 15 x 9 wheels. New 1.5” billet wheel spacers.
New motor mounts.

Body
Raptor Liner in Desert Tan on the body. Herculiner in black inside the tub, fender flairs, front and rear bumpers.
Dr Z fabrication heavy duty frame plates and shock mounts.
New front fenders and core support.
Windshield wiper brace.
Electric power steering.
Seats from a 98 Honda Accord 2 door so the passenger seat slides and rocks all the way forward.
New floor and firewall plugs.
New Mirrors
New Smittybuilt top, comes with a bikini top also.
12500 lbs winch with solenoid pack installed under the hood.
Electric fuel pump mounted to the frame for quieter operation.
Cleaned out the heater box and cowl.
Doors have new seals, weather stripping, window felt and wipers, window regulators, panels, metal interior and exterior door handles, and new locks.
New tailgate handle, lock, sticker, and weather stripping.

Electrical
Boss Radio, Pyle waterproof 6.5 speakers in the kick panel, Kenwood 6×9 in bed lined boxes in the back.
Cleaned up wiring harness.
I have installed extra grounds throughout.
New starter and ignition switch.
New turn signal multi-switch.
