This is a good daily driven Samurai. It has 134,000 miles on the body. Minimal rust. It has the older style dash w/out a tach. I have installed a 1989 fuel injected tracker/sidekick motor that runs very well. It does not leak. It has a 1989 Ford F150 externally mounted fuel pump which is a commonly used fuel pump when upgrading to the fuel injected motor. The new 1.6 liter is far better than the 1.3 liter carb motor. The 1.3 would barely keep up with traffic on the interstate, the 1.6 not only keeps up but every now and then you can pass someone! It is still very good on gas, I get between 20 and 25 mpg which is still as good as you can get with a true 4×4. City parking is very easy, it’s a very short truck and it’ll fit just about anywhere. It comes with an additional transmission, the old motor if you want it, a few odds and ends, a 2″ uninstalled shackle lift and whatever other parts I have lying around. I’m selling to get a more practical vehicle. That said I do not NEED to sell it as it runs and drives fine as is and has been my daily driver for years. I will not take low offers however I will entertain trades of equal value. I’m interested in VW TDI, Subaru Impreza and 1998 and newer BMW 3 and 5 series. I am mainly only interested in manual transmission cars.
There are some issues as it is an older car. I was rear ended in it awhile ago. No severe damage occured but there are a few small dents. There is no radio. There are metal panels matching the body color in place of the speakers so it seems like a radio delete option but I don’t think Samurai’s had that option. There are tears in the passenger seat. The top rear window cracked but I fixed it. The idle air control valve could use some cleaning but it’s common on TBI Tracker motors.
Overall it is a very good, solid Samurai and it’s getting hard to find decent examples that haven’t been neglected or off roaded to pieces. Mine has not been off roaded or abused. It has gone on a few long road trips and I’m sure it can go on many more.
There is very little rust on this Samurai. The wheel wells are all solid, under the battery is solid, all of the frame mounts are solid, the floors are all solid. This will be a solid truck for many years to come.
Also, when installing the 1.6L motor I pretty much disassembled the entire car and any spots of rust got a wire brushing and a coating of POR 15.
